Building work on office progressing steadilyJune 2010 – The construction work on the new Verzinkerij Kampen office is progressing steadily. The building has acquired a ‘second skin’ that will retain heat in the winter and keep it cool in the summer. The offices have also been furnished with Staco louvre gratings that were galvanised and powder coated in Wolvega. Poedercoating Heerhugowaard powder coated the wall cladding panels. Verzinkerij Kampen galvanised the steel elements and the structure for the second skin. Sustainability played a major role in the design of the new office and that emerges in the materials and structures that were selected. Basically, the building is just a simple steel box with walls made up of sandwich panels. It is surrounded by a climate wall that provides moderate natural ventilation for the offices. In the summer, this outer wall provides extra protection against the cold and it also creates a buffer against the cold in the winter. The building also has a heat pump, as well as underfloor heating and cooling. The climate wall is covered with galvanised louvre gratings in the form of shutters to keep out the sun. The shutters are driven hydraulically so that the position can be adjusted depending on the light. Staco supplied the gratings and the treads for the two staircases. The gratings were galvanised in Wolvega, which is also where the louvre gratings were powder coated. Verzinkerij Kampen galvanised the steel elements and the structure for the second skin and Poedercoating Heerhugowaard powder coated the wall cladding panels. That means the new office has sustainable protection from the weather, as well as a durable stylish appearance. |
